Breakfast is served!

This is one of my favorite breakfasts ever.

I only added a portion of my favorite vegetables to this, but it was fabulous.
IMG_8906
Spinach, Red Onions, Bell Peppers and Monterey Jack lightly sprinkled on top.  Yum!
IMG_8910
I have never been into the aerial view of food, but I saw some photos that really intrigued me last week and I am trying it out.  What do you think by the way?

When I was a child, I used to sit and pick those little pieces off of trees. I take it back. I swear I didn't mean it. : (

This tree was almost bare.

Have you entered my giveaway yet?

I would bet big money that you can't guess what this is.

Big. money.
23/365
But since I don't have big money, I won't.

I loved the texture of it though.

Any guesses?

Have you entered my giveaway yet? Entries are rather low, now is as good a chance as ever!

After six weeks with a sinus infection, I finally went to the doctor and got some meds today.  I feel worse than I did this morning, but she said that was normal, and hopefully within a few days things will start looking up.

These flowers were outside of the doctor's office, and luckily, I had my camera.  I thought they were too beautiful not mess with settings.  Unfortunately, I only had my 50mm lens, but I think it worked out just fine.

Tomorrow we are getting out of this house if it kills us. But today, we stayed in one last day. I think Robert is finally over his funk, besides a few whines and life might return to normal soon.

For today's photo, I took this shot of the ties behind our glider.

IMG_8747

I wish I could get that second lace hanging in focus, but at any rate, I thought it was a good shot.

These are the curtains in my room. I just wanted to mess with focus and angles to see what I could do. I want to start messing with textures. I had an idea I wanted to do today, but I didn't get around to it.

IMG_8744

I just thought this was simple and fun.

19/365 January 19, 2011

I had a busy day today and then a long nap (lucky me!). I forgot my camera for my outing and had hoped to get photos then, so instead I am giving you our nightly routine.

IMG_8706

Will reads the kids books every night just before bed. We used to bathe them every night, but now sometimes we skip it and rotate every other day. Today was a bath night. Hence, Rawni's wet hair.

Let's look at Rawni, shall we? She is wearing a skimpy night gown because she hates clothes. I hope this is not a sign of her later in life profession. She can not stand socks.  She will fight tooth and nail to wear them, and if she does, she will take them off immediately as she walks through the door.  In fact, she will take them off in the car if we allow it, but I don't prefer.

Yes, she is wearing a scarf.  She loves accessories.  Anything accessories.  She is very girlie.  She's also got a bottle of chapstick in her lap, but I am not sure how well you can see that.

She is munching straight "grape" tomatoes for her snack tonight.  She will eat a whole container in one sitting.  I hate tomatoes, but I can force them down only in things because of how good they are for you.

Let's look at William, shall we?  He, as well as Rawni, both highly enjoy mismatching their jammies.  I think because I let them mismatch these?  They know what goes in pairs and yet they are thrilled to intentionally not wear that way.  If we are going or staying somewhere, I make them match.  If we are home, this is one of those battles I choose to ignore.

The book they are reading, The Sun, is William's school library book.  In the past five months he has been in Kindergarten, we have checked out every book under the sun (no pun intended) on the Solar System.  He is obsessed and I swear one day if I can move the obsession from his crush to becoming involved in NASA, he will go in a rocketship to the moon.

Robert is sleeping as he is still not feeling up to par.  He's been whiny and needing extra sleep.  As for Will, I adore watching him with our children.  These are the moments that make me swoon over him.

Lastly, that is garbage on my counters, wine bottles from guests this weekend.  I am hoping I won't have to ask my husband to take them out tonight, but since I chose a nap today and need to get a few things done myself, I won't be ragging him. Today was a little, lazy.

Today was beautiful!  The weather has been outstanding and Rawni and I are loving every minute of it.  Today, she soaked in a bath with me and we did her hair nice, as well as both of our nails and some shots of her outback.

IMG_8618

She's not the easiest to get a photo of these days, so having one that I am enjoying looking at is wonderful. I've updated my left side bar pics, have you noticed?

Last night for dinner my husband made us two boxes of Tomato Pasta Roni with mini sausages, red onions, bell peppers and spinach chopped and lightly sauteed.  On the side we had one of my favorites; brussel sprouts, and one his favorites; carrots.

I am having the toughest time getting photos of food in my kitchen in the evening.  During the day it is fine, the natural lighting is wonderful, but in the evening, not so much.

Will somebody please offer me advice?  Either the photos are yellow tinged and dark, or they are over exposed and shadowed.  Where is the happy medium in my bright white kitchen?  Anyone?  Anyone?  Bueller?

It was a tough decision to focus on the positive or negatives of today. I'm, unfortunately, going to focus on the negative because I think it's a bigger deal and I'd want it in my photo 'journal'.

Robert has been a fussy butt all day. Actually, the past few days. Something is going on, but I don't think it's major.

He's got mad snot (I barely wiped it before snapping this shot). He's had drool. He is running a low grade fever. He is just whiiiiiny.

IMG_8570

Being the amazing sweet boy he is, even during these times, he's a pleasure to be around. I just wish I knew what it was and could take the pain away.

Signs point to teething and a cold, but as any parent reading this knows, it's usually a guessing game 'til it's over and done with.

Yesterday was Robert's 1st Birthday Party (combined with my 28th Birthday Party). Fun was had by all!
IMG_8519

I think this picture pretty much says it all, though. He plowed through his cupcake, leaving nothing but bits of icing on his high chair tray.

I have been baking all day! I really wanted my daily photo to be of the "bazillion" cupcakes I made, but I just could not get those photos quite like I wanted.

Instead, this was my very favorite.
14/365

If you really like this "cone" from Roundabouts Cupcake Sleeves, stay tuned -I've got a review coming on it! I better get now. I still have a bazillion more things to get done tonight. It's been a busy week! Tomorrow is Robert's 1st Birthday party, and my 28th. I can't wait!

Does anyone else take a handful of photos a day but have trouble deciding on which one they want to post? I did a lot of things yesterday and was really torn over which photo to 'show off'.

I opted for this one because I want to focus on self portraits a bit this year.
IMG_8429

Besides being horrible at deciding my "photo of the day", I can't keep secrets, either.  I am entirely too honest and open.  Yes, I got a perm.  A few of my friends recommended Kimmi at Icon in Santa Rosa, CA.  Since perms are not in style, she didn't have much experience under her belt and cut me a deal.  She did awesome.  It was so much fun and I am so glad that I did it.

My hair is at an awkward phase that I can't stand.  It's got some natural curl and waves that are hard to iron out.  But then when I straighten it, it won't stay straight or fluff's and is just too high maintenance.

This is definitely what I wanted to maintain it for a while.  Once it gets a little longer the weight helps to hold the curl down, and I can wear it straight again for a while.

I was having trouble with lighting and focus. Does anyone have any tips on that? I used to be so good at self portraits, until I got my nice camera. For some reason I have a more difficult time setting it up and stepping behind it.

Does anyone have any good websites or tips on how to manage the focus and things?

Just for fun, here's an idea of the efforts we women go through to look beautiful.  These things are heavy, OMG.

Don't mind the horrible quality, this one was taken with my crappy Blackberry Curve.

12/365 January 12, 2011

I am not a big fan of horses. I guess it's not horses that bother me, it's the memories that went along with them. There was always a couple of girls in my younger school days that were obsessed with them and it drove me insane, for whatever reason.

I guess since I can watch dolphins all day, and would love to one day swim with them, I can get it.

On the way to Rawni's school, I see these four horses often.  It's funny though because I have wanted to stop and take a photo for a while, but never have time, or my camera on me, or I've got somewhere to be, or a crying or hungry baby.

Well, today I was short on time, but I had my camera and I just finally did it.
IMG_8408

This dude was awesome.  I fell in love with him.  He's the only white one of the four.  In fact, he always catches me eye.  He's beautiful.

Turns out, he's sweet too.  I started taking pictures and testing out my "zoom in" lens (getting real technical for you here).  Anyways, he bolted towards me and just as sweet as ever just came up and watched me and checked me out.  I enjoyed his company, I might even sneak back and feed him sometime.  :)

Monday, January 10, 2011

10/365 January 10, 2011

Monday is "Homework Day". William brings home his homework folders home on Monday and back on Friday. Monday I make him do at least two of the assignments. This week was probably his most yet - five papers of homework.

I try to schedule it so that we don't do homework on Thursday's, but sometimes that just isn't possible.  At any rate, I like to "knock" more of it out earlier in the week so we have time to play. That's how I was always told to do things and how I've carried on through life.  Chores first, play later.
IMG_8378
I let him choose which order he would like to do the assignments.  Today he chose to work off of his calendar.  Each month he gets a sheet of activities to choose from and he must do three a week.  I call that a one paper assignment.  Most are small and easy.  Off of this sheet he chose to recite his alphabet, write his numbers, call a "friend" -which he chose my brother, and help fix dinner.  As you can see above, he also chose to work on his number page.

Today Rawni had homework too.  She is struggling to write her name, but we are working on it, and she is making progress.
IMG_8379
She has a short attention span, so she needs a little more one on one with academics.  She enjoys "saving" her homework to do with "brother" so we did.  Today they were even more adorable because he was helping her understand the letters and explaining how to write them.

I love these two!  And, I love Monday's.  Am I the only one?
