153/365 June 2, 2011

There is a story behind this not so great photo.

'Twas a long day.  I saved my WalMart shopping for the evening to go without kids.  The older two begged to join.  It turned into a longer trip.  Will made us a wonderful steak dinner, but we didn't get back as quickly as I'd hoped.  When we sat down I was going to take a photo of my meal (one my go to things to work on) and William dropped my camera.

It wouldn't work for a few minutes, so I killed time lecturing him and grubbing on the brussel sprouts.  Grrr...

Finally I was able to pop off the lens and pop whatever he messed up back into place.  By that time my dinner was cold and I was very tired.

This was the end result.

I am having the toughest time balancing life right now. I am keeping up on household duties, babysitting children and all of that, but photography and blogging are falling on the back burner.


I refuse to give up though.

The kids both helped with dinner tonight.  We had Chicken Carbonara, which has been one of my favorite foods for a while.  It also is a killer leftover lunch.  ; )

While we were making dinner, I had the spaghetti noodles in a pile and decided to show them how to play pick up sticks with them.  Don't worry, they washed their hands!

My husband can be pretty amazing in the kitchen. Tonight he planned ahead by looking up a new chicken recipe for the crockpot.

This was dinner. It wasn't my favorite, but the kids (all five of them) enjoyed it. I think I may blog it soon. But, we'll see!

My husband made a variation of this recipe off of the back of the garbanzo beans can tonight. If I had thought to take a photo before we ate it all, I would have shared that.

This was soooo yummy. It was a hit by all. My kids didn't love it as much as the two I babysit, but it was still a hit. I am pretty sure if I had let them, the kids would have licked the pan clean.

We will be making our version of it soon, I am certain. Then, I will share the recipe on my list (linked above under the "Marni's Kitchen" tab).

Fuji apples were on sale this week for 79 cents.  Needless to say, we bought a ton.  My husband and I both eat at least one a day.  Often the kids eat one, too.  Plus, we use them for lunches and snacks and things.

I was never really an apple fan growing up.  I didn't realize I just didn't know how to pick them.  In all honesty, I still don't know how to pick 'em!

For some reason, they just taste so much better when my husband inspects them.

Still working on improving my quality of food photos.  I learned a new trick yesterday when taking these photos of dinner.

The kids and I made Rice Krispie Treats together today, with sprinkles.

I made frozen burritos today. You can view the blog I posted on it here, but it is rather simple.

Make up some burritos how you like them, freeze in foil and a large ziploc bag, and voila. Easy lunches or meals at a healthier and lower cost that prepackaged and sodium loaded store bought.

I have been baking all day! I really wanted my daily photo to be of the "bazillion" cupcakes I made, but I just could not get those photos quite like I wanted.
