Canon Fan

This is my camera.

IMG_8274

It is a Canon EOS Rebel T1i. I bought in early-mid 2009. Will and I made new budgeting rules and I have my "own" money from being a Pleasure Party Consultant for Brown Bag Parties.

It took me a few months/parties to save up the money, but I busted my butt with a plan. I bought this baby and I haven't looked back. I researched and researched and was certain Canon was the way to go for me. I had almost had the money when they released the new version which includes video on it. I was so excited. It was a tad more, if I recall correctly, but well worth it. I have a few friends who have raved how nice it is that I have it "all in one" during school presentations and things.

Anyways, after I bought it and brought it to a family gathering, my Mom mentioned that she was going to throw out her old 35mm and the lenses looked similar.

Not only were they similar, they were the exact same camera.  She had a 35mm Canon Rebel.  The lenses and flash work wonderfully. There is one really nice zoom lens that doesn't seem to want to work, but since I didn't actually pay for it, I can't be too bummed, you know?

What a gold mine you found with both. I do not have as nice of one as you but I do have the video all in one and I have to agree it is nice to be able to video tape concerts and shows that my boys are in. I have enjoyed your photo blog so far and look forward to your continued posts.

BTW thanks for the comment on my blog and becoming a follower of mine.

It is wonderful! I highly recommend it!
I've always wanted to invest in a nice camera but have been a bit intimidated by it at the same time given that we have two great photographers in the family already, lol.

I know. I have a few friends that I feel like are trying to hold me back. They can stuff it. I feel ALIVE! I need to do things for me and this is a big one.
I don't know to what extent your newfound lens from your mom is broken--- Does it not even take a photo, or does it not autofocus? Some older lenses do not have a motor in them, and therefore you have to manually focus--- the lens might be fine afterall! I took a bunch of my dad's old Minolta lenses, and using a converter, am able to use them on my Nikon SLR. Unfortunately, because they came from a 35mm camera, there is no autofocus, but that's ok-- I saved hundreds!
Great blog so far, and thanks for stopping by my 365 project!

It doesn't even register it's there. I am not sure. I need to mess with it more, it's been a while.
