Today was my baby boy's 6th birthday. I had to rotate this photo out with another from yesterday. I made this yesterday, but the ones from today all have other kids in them that I know don't have permission to be on my blog. So for today, you get to see William's 6th Birthday cake.
I'll post the "how to" on my regular blog this week. I'm very very tired this evening and I've been having some lower back crampy pain the past couple days that is not dulled by Advil or Tylenol. :(

We went to the park with friends today. Before we got rained out, that is. What is up with this storming June weather? I am so over it.
Anyways, Robert is obsessed with this bridge. I have to turn my head most times because it makes me nervous and I know when he does fall I will be looking and he'll be too far in the other direction or out of reach. I swear even when you watch kids closely they fall just enough so you can't catch them. Luckily, it hasn't happened...
PS. Dad dressed him today. I very rarely put him in Raiders uniform, but if Dad takes the initiative to help in the morning, I am all for Raiders.

There is a story behind this not so great photo.
'Twas a long day. I saved my WalMart shopping for the evening to go without kids. The older two begged to join. It turned into a longer trip. Will made us a wonderful steak dinner, but we didn't get back as quickly as I'd hoped. When we sat down I was going to take a photo of my meal (one my go to things to work on) and William dropped my camera.
It wouldn't work for a few minutes, so I killed time lecturing him and grubbing on the brussel sprouts. Grrr...
Finally I was able to pop off the lens and pop whatever he messed up back into place. By that time my dinner was cold and I was very tired.
This was the end result.
Well, before I savored it, of course.

Just another evening in the Self household. Will made us all a nice dinner of pancakes, eggs, bacon, potatoes and some fruits. We had our bunch, the two we babysit, plus some friends over for playtime.

My baby graduated from Kindergarten this evening. I cried, but only a little. Not as much as the last day of school. Not as much as I might have expected. I really wish I could post the photos of them all in their cap's and on stage, but I don't post other children unless I have parental permission on my blogs.
Instead, this is William with his teacher receiving his diploma.
I can't say it enough times, I adore his teacher, his (previous now) class, his school, our community. I am so thrilled to be involved with so many wonderful people.

I have been so horrible in the motivation department for photos.
I actually am stealing this from earlier in the year. This was what I recall most of today consisting of. Laundry, and cleaning.

Today my husband and I went to Six Flags, without kids, for the day.
Mid roller coaster (the first one we went on) something came flying at my chest and started burning.
When, the ride was over there was half of what looked like a bee stuck in my chest. I had to pull it out myself.
It was my first bee sting and hurt worse than I expected. It went through some weird phases I would have never expected either; swelling up red, then white, then red with white, then just a red dot. It finally ended with this for the following two days.

I drove the kid's to my mom's last night, out of town, so that my husband and I could have the weekend alone. Well, Sunday. Saturday we only had the evening because he had to work.
For the evening we went and got pedicures, his first, with my birthday certificate.
Then, we went to the movies, had dinner tonight, enjoyed a nice soak in the hot tub and some peace and quiet. It was much needed.

Decisions, decisions.
Best photo or best moment? Biggest life change, or biggest accomplishment?
Here is my daughter's preschool graduation "get up". It was a "Hollywood" party. She got her Preschool Diploma. All together now.
Awwwww....
I think we'll need another one of those too. In the very wee hours of the morning, my newest nephew was born.
Welcome to the world, chunker! 9lb 14oz, exactly what I predicted he would be late last night in a text. Oh the fun of birth and babies!

Besides being my "Ten Year "together" Anniversary", today was my son's field trip. I had the pleasure to go along, as well as my two younger ones. It was very very busy, but so much fun, as usual.
And yet again, left me with a feeling of pleasure and love for his school and teacher. I adore the atmosphere we engage in with our community.
This was William getting his "face painting". I am not sure how or why he chose his arm, but he did.

It was raining last night. Which was really weird, I didn't expect it at all considering yesterday was more than 80 degrees and I was running the air conditioner in my car. But, nevertheless, that's how it goes these days and I shouldn't be surprised.
The ground was covered with snails this morning as I was leaving, so I thought it would be fun to grab my camera while Robert snailed his own way to the car.
Turns out, he wanted to play too. He grabbed the snail and threw it as hard as he could, about three feet into the bush, while I was trying to take the photo. Rawni looked about ready to cry. Fortunately, I could see the snail and he was not hurt in the process. Phew.

This is just the kids library basket for the week. It doesn't include all of the checkouts my husband and I have around the house.
I think we should take up stock in the library here.

I am having the toughest time balancing life right now. I am keeping up on household duties, babysitting children and all of that, but photography and blogging are falling on the back burner.
I refuse to give up though.
The kids both helped with dinner tonight. We had Chicken Carbonara, which has been one of my favorite foods for a while. It also is a killer leftover lunch. ; )
While we were making dinner, I had the spaghetti noodles in a pile and decided to show them how to play pick up sticks with them. Don't worry, they washed their hands!

I babysat a really long day today. I also got a lot of cleaning done in between. Somehow my house fell apart again this week when I wasn't looking. Which is probably what it's doing right now playing catch up here...
Anyways, I bribed the kids and told them that if they picked up at least 10 pieces of garbage each out back they could have a popsicle. There were some old sand toys that had gotten broken and things mostly Rawni had gotten into and dragged around the yard.
I also did a bunch of yard work. It was a very busy and very successful day.

I wish I hadn't been so lazy with my camera today. I had several photo opportunities that would have been adorable, but I was too lazy and tired to deal with it. Plus, I need to figure out where I left my flash.
Anyways, this is the girls, again, at the park for play. We stayed for a few hours.
For dinner, Robert polished off about 8 slices of watermelon. Totally would have been an adorable shot to show you all the rinds.
But, my favorite part of the day was spending five hours in the hot tub with Laura. Will got home just in time to take the kids out and put them to bed, then it was mommy chat time. I can't believe how long we stayed or how fast it went. He even brought us water, with a hand towel over his shoulder to wipe our hands, and some cupcakes I had made earlier that evening.
Living the life...

I refuse to give up though.
This past weekend when I visited my mom's, she offered to keep my daughter for a few days to play with hers (both of them are four year's old).
Originally, I wasn't going to take her up on it. The drive is killer and with gas prices, it just gets me. To make it worth the money and time she needs to stay for a few days. Besides that, I had several other reasons for not pushing it. But that morning my daughter was telling me how much she wanted to sleep there, so I let her pack her clothes and stay.
Today, one of my best friends was willing to make the dreaded drive with me and enjoy chatting there and back (at least three hours in the car together). It was sooo nice of her, and meant a lot to me.
On the way home, we stopped at my favorite Chinese place for lunch. Not only do I love their food, but it was all you can eat lunch buffet for $6.95. We ate all that they served and never asked for more it was so filling. It was also so yummy. I can't wait to go again already.
There are two extras for Rawni and Robert. : ) In order these belonged to: Robert, Laura, Myself, Rawni.
