I give myself credit for trying, and the social part was fantastic, but wine is not my thing.

63/365 March 4, 2011

When I went to the library this week, my husband and I had seven DVD's ready for pick up.  Seven?!

They just changed the DVD checkouts back to seven days (they had moved it up to 3 weeks).  Well, of course all of the movies had been ones that have been in our queue for a while and all came in at the same time.  (That never happens.)

So, I suggested we'd make a fun game of it and do a "movie marathon week", so we are!  Except we failed last night when I stayed out late with a friend. Shucks.

Anyways, Wednesday we watched Eat Pray Love.  I'm thinking about doing a review on it, but I'd probably want to watch it again to more closely inspect.  Since I read the book, I really wanted to see this one.

After watching it though, I was dying for some rich unhealthy Italian food.  Where else could I head but to Olive Garden?

So, today I went to dinner with a friend and enjoyed a rich, fatty, unhealthy and over carb'd dinner.  Fantastic.

I just can't decide if I like this photo better
IMG_0240

or this one?
IMG_0243

This is their version of Chicken (and Shrimp, that I had ordered on the side) Carbonara.

I have only eaten this meal 3 times.  Once at a friend's, then when I made it (recipe here), and now Olive Garden.  But, I think I've found a new favorite.

Also, can someone tell me why my photos seem so dark when I am photographing food?  When I lighten them up, they seem to be overexposed.  What's the deal?

Raisin Toast

If you like Raisin Toast, and you've never tasted Trader Joe's, you're missing one of the best things around.
IMG_0247

After I had Robert, I had a friend (and mother from the local Mother's Club) bring me a bag of groceries from Trader Joe's.

In this bag was several items that have become favorite grocery musts.  This toast is one of them.  It is thick like French Toast Bread or Texas toast.  Besides that, the flavor is to die for.  Now, I don't like raisins, but for whatever reason, I can eat them in a nice warm piece of Raisin Cinnamon Bread topped with butter.  Yum!

Macaroni & Cheese... with a twist!

My daughter's favorite food in Macaroni and Cheese.

Friday for lunch she made the request and it had been a while since we had any, so I of course, obliged.

Any guess as to what the "chunks" are in this batch?
IMG_0238

If you guessed homemade baby food puree ice cubes, you're good!

Back when William was an infant, I made all of his baby food. Then, I started getting creative and we started eating healthier. I would throw ice cubes of spinach in our sauces or spaghetti. Squash is excellent in a soup that got a little too hot (fajita soup or chicken noodle are my favorite's).

Then, my Gramma bought me Deceptively Delicious and it became even more of a habit.

Rawni often requests "pink oatmeal" (aka oatmeal that is cooled off with pureed beet ice cubes).

For this macaroni and cheese, I added spaghetti squash. It's not my favorite, I prefer butternut, but we have more spaghetti right now.

Rawni saw me put in so she whined "But I don't like that stuff you put in your soup!" To which I replied "Fine, next time I will put it in when you don't see! You do realize I add this everytime I make your macaroni and cheese and you never notice, right?"

Silly children.

Spring is around the corner!

The homeowners prior to us adored roses. We have at least 20 rose bushes. I am not a big fan, but I don't mind. I definitely love the smell!

I am more of a Calla Lilly fan or Birds of Paradise.  Anything tropical and green always pleases my eye.

These two are blooming right in front of my house.

62/365 March 3, 2011

This evening while cooking dinner, Robert was crawling through the kitchen and tripped on my foot. He face planted into our hardwood floors. This has happened several times. He's a rebel. He's busy. He gets hurt. a. lot.

But this time when I picked him, his mouth was full of blood.
62/365

After much investigation (and wrestling him down to get in his mouth), I found that his tooth sliced his upper lip open pretty good.

Robert's First Fat Lip

His biggest frustration after a few minutes was wanting to get away from me. He just wanted to run off and go play and I was trying to make sure it was alright.

We played in some puddles today.
IMG_0127

I like this photo of William better, but I really wanted to capture Rawni, just because I love bright colors and I thought her boots would be cuter.
IMG_0139

I wanted to get William cute boots too, but when I finally found some for his (after looking some time), the option was black.  So, black it was for this size.

The shots I got of them splashing together aren't great.  Rawni didn't splash much together.  In fact, I only caught her mid-air or standing.  Nothing worth bragging over.  The one I like best, actually, is out of focus and off center.  Figures.

60/365 March 1, 2011

First of all, I can't believe it's March already. How does this happen?! One day at a time, I guess, huh?

This is our cat, Daisy. This is my photo for the day.
IMG_0112
I also chose this photo because she laid right next to Inception, which we watched this evening.  I guess I should say Will watched this evening.  My eyes were bothering me and I took a Benadryl for the itching and between that and lack of sleep with Robert having been up at night consistently the past few days, I ended up heading to bed early.

But I am not going to stop at that, I took a few others too.
IMG_0100

We got Daisy two years ago this month.  Wow!
IMG_0101

I found her at the shelter.  I went in for one cat to reduce a rat problem we had, and I came home with two.  Had she not been "on a discount", because she had already been fixed, she may not have come home with us.
IMG_0107

She and my husband hit it off really well.  She's a very sketchy cat.  She's sweet and wouldn't go out of her way to hurt us, but she gets scared easily.
IMG_0110

She is also very moody.  She's temperamental and jealous.  She literally gets angry eyes when she sees Will rubbing my back.  She got angry with us last Spring and she only comes in the house occasionally.  Once, it was very cold outside so I had Will bring her in and planned to keep her in the house overnight.  She woke me up ripping my screen apart in my room.
IMG_0109

She's a great hunter, and she has never hurt the children, but she really doesn't get close to them, the most part.  She will occasionally let them pet her, but otherwise prefers to be alone.
