Macaroni & Cheese... with a twist!

My daughter's favorite food in Macaroni and Cheese.

Friday for lunch she made the request and it had been a while since we had any, so I of course, obliged.

Any guess as to what the "chunks" are in this batch?

If you guessed homemade baby food puree ice cubes, you're good!

Back when William was an infant, I made all of his baby food. Then, I started getting creative and we started eating healthier. I would throw ice cubes of spinach in our sauces or spaghetti. Squash is excellent in a soup that got a little too hot (fajita soup or chicken noodle are my favorite's).

Then, my Gramma bought me Deceptively Delicious and it became even more of a habit.

Rawni often requests "pink oatmeal" (aka oatmeal that is cooled off with pureed beet ice cubes).

For this macaroni and cheese, I added spaghetti squash. It's not my favorite, I prefer butternut, but we have more spaghetti right now.

Rawni saw me put in so she whined "But I don't like that stuff you put in your soup!" To which I replied "Fine, next time I will put it in when you don't see! You do realize I add this everytime I make your macaroni and cheese and you never notice, right?"

Silly children.
