31/365 January 31, 2011

This is a tree at the park by my daughter's school. It has been recently covered in chalk. The colors are amazingly vibrant. The work that went into this is extravagant. I would never expect I would say that about such a thing, but really, it is amazing blending and coverage. The little beings who did this went over their work several times and had a beautiful system. I couldn't help but admire it.
IMG_9260

It is my favorite photo from today, and it was a tough call.  I just think I could have caught a little bit more of it in focus.

Gardening in Kindergarten? Yes!

I played at my son's school today for a while, as we often do. Actually, I will be playing there a few times this week. Remember, hundred's day is tomorrow?

Anyways, each class has a gardening box. My son's has radishes, broccoli, cauliflower and I think or two other things. They plant them, water them, and ultimately eat them.

30/365 January 30, 2011

Tuesday is "Hundred's Day".  That means that it is the one hundredth day of school.  William's school has a huge celebration.  "Super Hero Zero" comes every 10th day of school.  This helps to teach them things like counting by 10's to 100.

For his the big day, he was asked to do a project with ten things of ten things to make 100.  We decided to take a photo of William holding up 10 fingers for 10 days.  Then, I already had a yellow poster board, so I drew a school bus, cut, and colored and put 10 William's in it!
30/365

He totally was excited about taking this photo and doing the project, I think he was just confused about my positioning of trying to get the shot.

For fun, here are ten William's for ten days.

This is one of my favorite parts of the male species. Mmmm... I have a major thing for goatee's, but my husband is too lazy to keep one maintained.

28/365 January 28, 2011

Yesterday, I very unfortunately watched the news. Well, we don't have cable, so I didn't actually watch the news. But someone posted this link on Facebook and I read some articles and was bothered by not only this incident, but several others.

"Baby Drowns While Mom is on Facebook" "He wanted time alone" she said.
"Missing Body of Mother Found"
"5 Year Old Drops Loaded Gun at School"
"Woman Confesses to Kidnapping Baby in 1987"
"Husband Found Dead in Home"
"Babysitter Strangled"

These were just a few that stood out to me.  I won't link them for your peace of mind.  You're welcome.

Robert was napping and the kids were "cleaning" their room.  They didn't interrupt me for two hours and I got completely sucked in and felt completely sick and nauseous.  I hate the news.  I hate. hate. hate. it.  I can't watch it.

I am deeply affected by this crap, and I can't.  I have to focus on smaller things in the world, because I just can't fathom these horrible things.

Once Robert awoke and was fed, he was playing with the magnets on the fridge.  I sat down on the couch for literally a few minutes when I heard him starting choking and gagging.

It took him a matter of minutes, he crawled across the kitchen and broke into the cabinet under the sink and (gasp) ate a dishwashing detergent capsule.

Okay, not really.  But he tried, and it was gross and he gagged.

It was literally minutes that the entire thing took place.  I grabbed the phone, grabbed the magnet for the poison control number, and grabbed Robert.  I was already on the phone waiting while rinsing his mouth and hands over the sink and reading the back of the container.  I am serious, everything was all within arms reach and over so quickly.

The Crime Scene
IMG_9139
Of course, I realized that I had decided to take a photo after I closed the cabinet and placed the container back to appear as though it was the official crime scene.  Good thing this is not my job, I'd be horrible at it, huh?

Thankfully, mothering is my job, and most of the time, I am relatively good at that.  Taking care of Robert was my priority.

Lastly, I want to close with the fact he never threw it back up. He never had diarrhea.  He didn't act odd, or hurt, or scared.  It was like it never happened.

27/365 January 27, 2011

This is my 100th Photo Blog post! Whoo hoo!

Today was a very emotional day. I am shocked that I made it all day long without crying, honestly.

I am not sure why I resisted, but when I finally asked myself, it was in part not to break down in front of the children, and another part because I didn't know if I could stop if started.

I took the kids to the park, soaked up some Vitamin D in hopes that would lift my spirits, and even brought the camera, but no such luck.

I also ending up chatting with my good friend, Colleen, the majority of the trip, which was nice.

Anyways, between the stresses of our house, the fact I recently left my husband and decided to post the blog I have had drafted on it, I just felt overwhelmed.

Today also marked a once special day.

It would have been 13 years of friendship with my former 'bestie'.

This is the first letter I wrote to her, which marked the beginning a journey I can never forget.
IMG_9130

"The only people you need in your life are the ones who need you in theirs."

I have three binders of this.  Probably close to 3,000 pages.  What would you do with them?  Toss them?  Burn them?  Treasure them and hope one day she realizes what she lost?

I still haven't decided.  Right now they aren't in the way or where I have to look at them, but I still remember they are there, and I don't know that I want to hang to something of her when she has let me go.

Maybe I'll decide in two months when it marks a year?

**In case you haven't noticed, I have a candid memory for dates.  It's very odd, I know.  But I can remember the first for everything.  I can remember the dates of specific happenings, even non important ones.  If I can't, it only takes me a minute to figure it out.

I actually deleted this particular happening from my phone last week, but sure enough, the first thing this morning that popped in my head was what today marked.  That is even having not thought about it for several days prior.

26/365 January 26, 2011

I only took 4 photos today, and I am using two.

This first one is not a good quality, but something I want to remember.

My husband got off early (this is his "day off" this week). He went Costco shopping today. Robert was napping and the kids were watching a movie, so I laid down. I ended up taking a killer nap (for the second time this week? That's a huge treat, I rarely get one or two a month lately). I heard him come in so I knew it was safe to keep sleeping, and boy did I!

When I woke up he was cooking us a breakfast feast. He made eggs, potatoes (with spinach and bell peppers), chicken sausage and some fresh apple and cinnamon pancakes.  I was highly appreciative.
IMG_9108

Don't mind his goofy face, he was irritated I asked him to smile.

IMG_9109

The second photo is a repeat.  You will probably see a lot of these photos, not because I am lazy or out of inspiration, I just love them.  I love the entire auro of the nighttime readings.

William is feeding Robert a bottle because I have plenty of breastmilk on stock that I need to use and also he takes them better in the evenings.

25/365 January 25, 2011

If you could see through my computer right now, you'd see me smiling from ear to ear. Looking at the photos from today and admiring the fun has me feeling elated.

Will took Rawni to work this morning, so I was able to enjoy some time alone.  I soaked in a bath, I took a cat nap.  I didn't. clean. a. thing. today.

Granted, I'll be catching up tomorrow, but I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the day.

Will was off of work early, so we spent some family time at the library, walking around and went out to dinner.  It was beyond fantastic.

This was probably my favorite photo of the day.  I realize it is similar to yesterday's, but goodness.  Can these two be any cuter?
IMG_9073

I had some trouble adjusting the exposure and stuff.  I should have brought my flash out because it at sunset and getting rather dark.

But at any rate, my adorable kiddos.

It's a fairly common snack around here though.
